THE POTENTIAL OF ROBUSTA GUCIALIT COFFEE AS A SUPERIOR COMMODITY LUMAJANG REGENCY COFFEE EXPORT

Robusta coffee commodities are location-specific crops and are suitable for cultivation in Gucialit District, Lumajang Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Robusta Coffee from the Gucialit Lumajang Mountains which has a very good altitude for Robusta Coffee plants, because the weather in Gucialit District is favorable for flowering and formation of coffee fruits. The influence of weather is a dominant factor in influencing the production rate of Robusta coffee. In addition, coffee plantations are processed in an organic way. Coffee beans are red picked beans and processed into powder by roasting medium to dark. It has the best robusta coffee taste, classic and has unique and excellent taste characteristics (acidity, aroma, flavor). This Robusta coffee can be used as a superior product of Lumajang Regency. to be marketed nationally and internationally with its own characteristics. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data. The identification and results of research analysis show that Gucialit Coffee is very potential to be marketed nationally and internationally with many advantages and its own characteristics. The method used to find the right strategy is SWOT analysis. The comprehensive strategies found as a result of the SWOT analysis method are: (1) Increased role of government; (2) Establishment of Robusta Coffee Farmers Group in Gucialit (3) Increase production of Gucialit Robusta coffee by increasing the area of land for planting (4) Improve the quality of Robusta coffee (5) Improve the processing of coffee beans consistently to be able to compete with other coffee exporting countries.
